Luxury Hotels
With the opening of the first six-star hotel/resort in Dubai, it’s becoming harder and harder to distinguish between what makes a hotel ‘luxury’ or not. There can be added extras to the rooms or amenities in a hotel, but what components make it feel luxurious to you? Any of the following amenities could make you classify it as a luxury hotel:
- Flat screen and high definition television (possibly with a DVD player or game console as well)
- Large size room
- Quality brands of liquor and wines in the mini bar
- Bathtub with jets
- Silk sheets on the bed
- A restaurant and/or bar run by a celebrity or well-known chef
- Quality brands of bath products
- Free wifi
- An iPod dock and/or alarm clock
- Excellent views
Most often, a luxury hotel is based in a metropolitan area or a holiday destination. This allows for additional extras, such as limousine services, guided tours, pools, spas, health clubs, adventure groups, and wildlife exploration. Typically though, the most common place to find luxurious hotels is in large cities, such as New York, London, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Sydney, and Madrid. More remote locations, as on tropical islands in the Caribbean, Hawaii, the Seychelles, the South Pacific, and the Mediterranean will most likely base their luxury in their surroundings, like beach-front villas and full service spas.
