In order to generate online sales, your business must increase Web traffic and – more importantly – drive targeted visitors to your site. A highly successful method of doing so is targeted pop advertising, also referred to as targeted pop under ads.

With the right Internet marketing and advertising company as your partner, targeted pop advertising is a very cost effective method that allows you to increase Web traffic and send targeted visitors to your website. In essence, this form of marketing allows thousands of people to actually see and visit your website at the same time they are looking for your type of products and services. This is because the visitors have been targeted according to the topic or topics that you select. For example, if you are promoting a home business opportunity, Internet users looking for home business opportunities will see your pop under ads. Likewise, if you have a shopping site, or are promoting medical or legal services, visitors who are specifically interested in those areas will be exposed to your pop under ad.

In order to get the most bang from your marketing buck, choose an Internet marketing and advertising company that:

1. Has established affiliate relationships with popular high-traffic websites. The owners of these sites will have coded their Web pages so that a full-page pop under ad window will open when someone visits their site. This relationship will ensure that your website is displayed to thousands of potential customers or clients.

2. Has time delay technology that ensure that you will not be charged for your pop under ad until it has been on display for at least 20 seconds. Some disreputable companies will count ads that have already been closed by the user before being fully loaded or read, thereby decreasing your return on investment.

3. Has technology that overrides or gets around pop up ad blockers.

4. Offers advertising packages that only count unique visitors in a 24-hour period toward your allotted pop under ad block.

5. Carefully places pop under advertising so as not to overload website and annoy visitors; rather the pop under ads will have maximum appeal.

6. Offers a good value, by guaranteeing a certain number of pop under ads for a low price. You should look for a company that offers pop under ads for less than two cents apiece.

7. Provides you with a unique Web address to view the actual Web visitors who respond to your pop under ads and track your progress.

Research has demonstrated that pop under ads are often more effective than email campaigns. This targeted pop advertising approach works because only those visitors who are interested in your particular category are exposed to your pop under ads.

If you have extensive knowledge on a particular subject,
why not create a free course for your web site visitors.
The course should be related to the theme of your web
site. If you’re selling business related products, you would
want to giveaway a free course about business.

You could offer the course in html, autoresponder, and
ebook format.

HTML- Your course could be right on your web site. On
one web page, create a title page and table of contents.
Use clickable chapter links so they can go to the sections
easily were they need the most help.

You could increase your traffic by allowing people to give
away the course to their web site visitors. Just have them
link to your web site.

eBOOK-Your course could be in a downloadable ebook
format. Include your business ad in the ebook. A good
ebook software to use is Editor Pro, you can find it at
http://www.e-ditorial.com .

You could allow other people to give away the ebook.
They could just upload it to their own server. Every time
someone downloads it, they will see your business ad.

AUTORESPONDER-Your course could be published on
an autoresponder. You can sign-up to get a free follow-up
autoresponder from all the free services on the internet.
You can find them by typing in “free autoresponders” in
your search engine of choice. Include a lesson of your
course on each follow-up message sent.

You could increase traffic by allowing advertisers to include
their ad in the course. Ask them, in return, to advertise the
free course at their web site. Just have them link to your
web site.

There are many other formats you can use to create your
free course; downloadable text, pdf, print format, fax-on-
demand, cassette, video, etc. You can use all the methods
above with all the formats to increase your traffic.

Qualified traffic is the lifeblood of any web site today, especially for ecommerce sites that are selling goods or services online. But, many media buyers and/or owners of web sites are paying too much for traffic by relying on top tier PPC (“pay per click”) search engines like Overture or Google’s Ad Words Select programs and others.

There is a new breed of web site traffic brokers emerging in the interactive marketing world that are brokering qualified traffic to the highest bidder on a CPC (“cost per click”) basis. Traffic brokers bypass tried and true business processes by flipping the business proposition 180 degrees. They don’t find clients and then optimize their web site for search engines; they do it the other way around, by developing and optimizing their own domains for top tier search engines and then reselling this traffic by redirecting it to a destination of their choosing in real time.

So, is this process illegal or unethical? It’s hard to say. I don’t believe these processes are more disingenuous than what’s occurring with hidden “sponsorship listings” via top tier search engines, including Yahoo, MSN, LookSmart, Overture, etc. The latter are now starting to take up the lion’s share of the first page on search results — these results are viewed tens of millions of times per day, with many people unaware that the results are “sponsored listings.”

To muddy the digital waters even more, marketing services companies are starting to offer “trusted feed” traffic to companies who want to buy qualified traffic on a CPC (“cost per click”) basis. This process is just starting to take hold in the marketplace and works by a marketing services firm contacting a prospective client and offering them “trusted feed” search engine listings on a top tier web site like MSN or LookSmart on a CPC “cost per click” basis. They (the marketing services firm) then build web site pages for their client that are based on their in-depth knowledge of what the search engines want and then submit these pages to the search engine/directory’s editors who then review the sites, give the “client” a top tier listing site and then share in the CPC trusted feed revenue with the marketing services firm.

It’s getting pretty murky when you start to look closely at what and how traffic originates. I don’t think brokering traffic is bad or unethical as long as the web site that is the final recipient of the traffic is offering goods and services that are identical to the referring web site. And, there is a self-policing component of these types of processes — the traffic brokers want repeat business, so it is in their self interest to make sure the redirected traffic is being sent to a similar web site.

Also, “conversion rates” (the number of people taking a specific action versus the amount of traffic) are rapidly becoming the final determinant of building a sustaining relationship between the traffic brokering firm and the recipient web site. If the traffic coverts then the recipient typically wants to buy more, if not, they will move on to another source — this reinforces the self-policing aspects of the relationship.

So what do you look for if you want to start buying traffic from a web site traffic broker? Price is certainly a large factor in determining what your interest should be; most of us in the traffic brokering business typically offer keyword traffic at about a third or half of what you would pay via a trusted feed setup, or Overture or an Ad Words Select program via Google. Expect to pay more for filtered (“automotive, insurance, telecommunications”) versus unfiltered (“shopping mall type of traffic”) as the former has to be carefully filtered for specific keywords or keywords sets so it can be distributed to a larger number of web sites.

Next, make sure you get a 24/7 reporting capability that enables you to analyze your traffic in real time — this report should show the originating keyword traffic (keywords are always embedded in the search string). And look carefully at your report; proxy traffic (or cached pages) should be filtered out so that there is no more than 5-10% of the total traffic — you can’t get away from having some proxy traffic in this day in age, even AOL is using proxy servers. Finally, look closely at your report. The timelines should have some randomness in the sequences; if you see a traffic report with keyword traffic that is spaced very closely in terms of the timeline, warning bells should go off.

Can you ever avail of free website promotion? Is that even feasible?

Of course yes! Nowadays, your baby website can amass huge traffic in no time thanks to free website promotion.

How does this free website promotion go anyway? What are things to be done?

1. Enlist your website.

Look for the hottest Internet directories and enlist your site there. This is the easiest and most effective free website promotion tactic. Start with this step and the rest of the good things will follow.

Just don’t forget to prep your website and make it all spruced up for a higher chance to get accepted in your directory of choice.

2. Know your forums.

One reason why forums are created is for free website promotion for everyone. Log in, post actively, let them know about your site in every post and you attract instant visitors right there.

3. Write a press release.

Release your writing prowess and start up a press release that advertises your site! This is a free website promotion tactic that you can do anytime. Type a brief paragraph or two and email it to your friends, colleagues, internet e-zines, newspapers and other media and massive traffic will come to you pronto!

4. Be friendly online.

Free website promotion means you need to be friendly to other webmasters. Why, you ask? So they can link you immediately! Establish contacts and never tire of link requests and exchanges.

5. Write an article.

Say, your website is about your travel agency. Write an article about the perks of traveling or the hottest travel spots in the world. On the concluding paragraph, mention your website in passing. This article works as an advertorial and doubles as a free website promotion approach.

6. Just let the whole world know about your site.

What is free website promotion without the word of mouth? Insert your website, its URL and features in daily conversations and let the good news spread from one mouth to another!

7. Make a banner ad.

Make a banner ad for your site and ask another webmaster to do the same for his site. Then swap!

8. Take up a free website promotion course online.

Yes, there are free website promotion tutorials. But don’t you know that you can actually take a free website promotion course that can help you out further? Part of the free website promotion program is signing up for newsletters.

When you make a website, you need not pay anything to promote it. You just read it — there is such a thing as free website promotion!

Do you know that you can promote your home business absolutely free of cost? Moreover you can generate quality traffic of the potential prospects who will come to your site because they are interested in what you sell.

Yes! It can be done absolutely free. And it is fun too.

# Write and publish articles -

This is the best traffic generation method. Write articles centered on the theme of your home business niche and submit them to the article directories. There are thousands of article website that are eager to publish your articles. When you write make it sure that you write an article well. Your article when published will be an unending source of quality traffic.

Your resource box in the end of article will serve as the link to your website. Make your article interesting enough so that the reader reads till the end and is intrigued enough to click the link in the end.

Writing a good article is not that difficult. Think about an idea and expand it. Write as much you can while taking care of the typos and grammatical error. After you finish it close it down and relax. Review it next day for editing. You will be surprised to find the changes you can make to improve your articles.

Search for article directories in Google or Yahoo. Compile your own list and submit to them one by one. Most of article submissions are free. It may take a while when you do itg for the first time as you need to create account with the site before you can submit. After you are through with account creation the whole thing will become an easy process.

A good article is judged by its content. It should be informative enough and of value for the publisher and the reader. Article body as such should not have links nor should it appear to be blatant sales letter. And of course no typos or grammatical error.

# Blog them and receive them-

Open an account with blogger.com. This easy setup doesn’t take more than 15 minutes. Publish this on your site. Now you own a blog. You are free to write whatever you want. But again the content will draw most readers.

You can put your links in your blog unlike restrictions in your articles. Write anything. About your experience, your problems or what you did today. Anything.

Share your thoughts with the world. More frequently you write more is the traffic. If people like your blog they will visit again. Write at least daily for maximum gain

# Free e-book -

Write a report on what you know or about your business. Make an e-book out of that report. PDF books are easy to create and they can be created free at adobe.com without any purchase or liability of purchase. Post that e-book on your and your partners’ site.

Mention that people if interested can post it on there site for free. When customer loads it he will visit to your site by the contained link. When your e-book is distributed enough it will bring in substantial traffic

# Acquire links -

There are millions of websites. Just imagine if you have your links posted on 1000 sites out of them. Considering 1/10 click through rate you will receive at least 100 visitors per day considering one visitor per site. Do the math and think!

More links you have more are the chances of getting visitors.

Getting link is very easy now with free dedicated services being available like linkmarket.net. You just need to open an account and there you go for a link ride. One word of caution though. Exchange links with sites similar to your own business. And avoid link farms.

If you are persistent with above methods you will see a consistent jump in the traffic over 4 – 6 months traffic and a better ranking in the search engines

Good luck. It is time for some work now…

We all know the value of getting links to our site. Links bring you traffic from related sites and boost your search engine rank, which brings you, umm, more traffic. So, basically, links = traffic.

However, gone are the days of simply asking for a link (in exchange for a link from your site) and actually getting one. These days, bland reciprocal link requests such as these almost never yield any benefit because they are simply ignored. Think about this old-school approach from the email recipient’s point of view to understand why your link requests are ignored.

Webmasters of quality sites, the ones you want to get links from, are constantly dealing with link requests. 9 times out of 10 the webmaster simply sees “Link Exchange” and deletes the email. I know I do. I have more important things to do than to entertain requests that are most likely for sites that are not even relevant to mine.

And like most webmasters, I don’t give the link requester the chance to even prove if it is relevant (meaning, I don’t read the email). I’ve seen so many of these emails that they seem to hit the “Deleted Items” folder as fast as the Viagra spam emails.

So, this is the first hurdle, getting your email read. If your subject line resembles a link request at all, busy webmasters will see it as such and simply delete it. You have to put yourselves in their shoes. What would get you to read the email?

Well, how about starting off by telling them what YOU can do for THEM, instead of the other way around. This simple tactic works much better. Which one would you open:

A)	Subject: “Exchange links with xyz.com”

B)	Subject: “Love your site! As my way of saying thanks…”

In the body of the email you can introduce yourself and your site, and explain what you are trying to accomplish with your site.

Now, the following method varies slightly depending on what type of site you have that you are trying to get links for. Most sites fall into 2 categories: content sites and e-commerce sites. Is your site offering valuable content to your visitors (such as information on the best local golf courses), or is your site selling something (software or an ebook or something)? Your site will be one of these types.

If it’s a content site then the process of acquiring links is much easier, because you simply have to convince the potential link partner that your site would be of value to them and their visitors. You could use an email such as:

“Hi there,

I just saw your site at _______ and think it’s a great resource for our new _____ site. Our _____ site is unique because ______(here is where you would stress the value of your site)_________. Check it out at _________. Since our ____ site is like nothing else on the net, and we are quickly becoming the favorite resource for ____.

I am going to add your link to my site in a prominent location (with few outbounds on your link page) and was wondering if you would do the same.

The traffic we can send each other will be highly targeted and both of our visitors would appreciate and benefit from this link swap.

Again my site is at _________. Check it out!

Let me know if you would like me to add your link to the site.

Thanks!

This type of email works well, and should net you a bunch of links if your content site truly is of value to the email recipient and his/her visitors.

Now, if your site falls under the second category, an e-commerce site, you need to put a little more work into your requests using the following approach. The body of the email would go on to explain that, as your way of saying thanks for a great site, you would like to offer them a complimentary copy of your ebook…or a copy of your software…or provide a service to them (copywriting, ebook design, graphic design)…whatever…in exchange for a link from their site. If they link to your site, you will provide them with something in return, other than simply a link back from your site.

And it doesn’t have to be your main product either. You can put together a valuable little bonus for link partners, or you can acquire master resell rights to something that you think would be of interest to them and offer them this. The key is to be creative. If you think about it just a little bit, I’m sure you can come up with something to give away in exchange for some highly valuable links.

I have used this tactic successfully several times and it always works beautifully. People love this because there’s actually something in it for them, unlike the dozen other boring reciprocal link requests they simply deleted. Trust me, it works.

But the key is that you have to approach the right sites – RELEVANT SITES. I can’t stress this enough. You cannot simply use this tactic as a blanket approach and send out as many emails as you can. If you do that, there goes the personalization and credibility you are hoping comes across in your email. You have to find only relevant sites that are truly valuable to you as a link partner.

And if your goal is simply to get top search engine rankings and not just the desire to have a ton of links pointing to your site, you don’t have to send out hundreds of these requests – if they are properly targeted. This is especially true if you are in a relatively untapped niche market, because only a handful of the right links will get you top search engine rankings. After you get these links you will get listed at the top of MSN in a couple days, Yahoo in a couple weeks, and Google in a couple months. They all index and rank pages differently, but they share a common trait in that they all place an extremely high value on relevant backlinks. More so than any other SEO tactic out there, in fact.

So, how do you find relevant sites? Well, ideally these sites would not only be relevant but also would have a decent Page Rank as well as few outbound links on the page you would like to be linked from. As a rule of thumb, the higher the Page Rank and the fewer the outbound links the better. The PR Prowler program does exactly this. It allows you to enter in the keywords that relate to your site and specify a minimum Page Rank for your potential link partners, then it returns a list of highly valuable and, more importantly, relevant link partners for you and shows you the value of each one as a link partner. It can also email these sites from within the program (and customize each email), so you just have to craft your message and click “Send”.

Bottom line: You have to be smart when you approach sites these days. With all the spam laws and email regulations in place, not to mention the resource drain on all those involved, you must only contact relevant sites to get links back to you. And by doing this in a creative fashion whereby the email recipient actually gets something of value in return for a simple link on their site you increase your chances of landing these valuable links tenfold. Not only does this boost your link popularity and search engine rank, but these relevant links are great traffic generators in and of themselves. It’s a double-whammy, and an internet marketing tactic you should not take lightly.

Put some work into your link requests, and it will pay off in the end.
